We support children and their families at Seedlings of SEN in communication, all at nursery to later year primary school ages.
We focus on nature activities, making everything from a bug house to wildflower seed bombs, fat balls and bird feeders, to more recently grass head birds.
We use Makaton and Makaton symbols in all our sessions. This means everyone can be actively involved, understand, and vitally communicate, a skill we believe everyone should be able to have to enjoy life. All the Seedling’s enjoy using Makaton, and will happily use their new found skill to communicate with one another.
Makaton is used by thousands of people young and old across the UK, from teachers and health care professionals to children in the playground. We believe that it can support any child on their communication journey, research shows that using Makaton signs and/or symbols can enhance a child’s speech even from an early age.
We provide free activities which all our Seedling’s can enjoy, regardless of age or ability. We try to ensure everything we do is environmentally friendly, wildlife and child approved. We up cycle when we can and try to ensure bought products are of the best quality.

Some of our past sessions have included, building a bug house, planting potatoes, sewing carrots and wild flowers in the garden of The Old School Coffee Stop.
So far the Seedling’s have created bird feeder’s, firework picture’s, firework’s in a jar, decorated bird boxes, making seed bombs, Dragon mask’s and Chinese lantern’s.
Our aim is to have a garden our seedling’s can be proud of, where they can learn about nature and the environment around them, as well as create an area the customers of The Old School Coffee Stop can enjoy.
